1732~ Joseph Haydn was born in Rohrau, Austria
1740~ Joseph was enrolled into the St Stevens Cathedral in Vienna (image on left) 1749~ He was let go of his job due to not being able to reach the high notes (puberty) 1752~ Went to work as an assistant composer for Nicola Porpora for an exchange for lessons 1756~ Worked as a freelancer in the royal court 1761~ The count named Haydn "Kapellmeister" now in charge of all musical life and wrote and produced several symphonies 1765~ Wrote Symphony No. 30 in C Alleluja 1766~ Haydn composed ' Applausus', he wasn't to be leading the performance so he wrote a so called letter to the Cistercians stating how the work should be preformed (Video 1) 1770~ Haydn became very ill leading to quick exhaustion 1781~ Haydn established a publishing contract in London 1786~ Paris symphonies produced along with the original orchestral version of " The seven last words of Christ" (Video 2) 1792~ The startling loud piece names "surprise" was premiered in London (video 3) 1798~ The Creation an awkward yet fan pleasing piece written through musical lines which do not make harmonic sense (video 4) 1799~ Haydn was visited by a biographer named Georg August Griesinger who later published a book of Joseph Haydn's life( book on the left) 1800~ Maria Anna, Joseph's wife dies 1806~ Haydn's brother Micheal dies 1808~ A performance dedicated to it's composer of The Creation was organized and Haydn was carried out where he met Beethoven who conducted the performance 1809~ Franz-Joseph Haydn Died |
